The markings are made either as a daily ritual considering the body as the decoration on the temple of Lord Vishnu, and denote Vaisnava lineage or sampradaya the devotee belongs to. • Make a paste of Gopi Chandan by pasting it in water and then dip the side of the figure properly in the tilak. Hold properly with the handle and apply it on your fore head. The beautiful pious design now can be seen on your forehead.
